Google Contacts

June looks people up in your Google contacts and, in a Google Workspace account, your company directory, and saves or changes contacts following your approval settings.

Connect Google Contacts and June can tell you how to reach someone: the email or phone of a saved contact, of a person you have mailed but never saved, or of a colleague in your company directory. It can also save a new contact, change one, or add contacts to a group, following your approval settings.

On the Integrations page, choose Connect on the Google Contacts row.
Give the connection a name (keep default for your main account), sign in with the Google account whose contacts you mean, and allow every permission Google lists.
Ask about a person.
What is Anna Berg's phone number?
Save Jonas Weber, jonas@weber.example, as a contact.
Update Anna Berg’s mobile number to +49 30 7654321 and keep her other numbers.

What June can do

  • Find people by the start of a name, nickname, email address, phone number or company, in your saved contacts and among the people you have mailed but never saved. One person appears once, even when both hold them.
  • Read one person in full: every email and phone with its label, company, title and department.
  • In a Google Workspace account, find colleagues in the company directory the same way. A personal Google account has no directory, and June says so instead of guessing.
  • Save a new contact: name, email addresses, phone numbers, company, title and department.
  • Change a saved contact: its name, its email addresses or phone numbers, its company, title or department.
  • Add saved contacts to one of your contact groups (labels). It only adds; it never takes anyone out of a group.

Approving a change

Contact changes follow your approval settings. When June asks, nothing happens until you choose Approve:

  • A new contact's card lists every field it gets.
  • A change's card names the contact and shows each field it changes as old → new, for example Phone: +49 30 1234567 (mobile) → +49 30 7654321 (mobile). A list of emails or phones is replaced as a whole, so the card shows the whole list on both sides.
  • Adding to a group names the group and every contact.

If the contact changes in Google after you saw the card (you edit it on your phone, say), June changes nothing and says so; ask again and it reads the contact afresh.

A connection made before June could change contacts only reads. June then says so instead of showing a card: reconnect Google Contacts on the Integrations page and allow every permission Google lists.

What June does not do

  • It never deletes a contact. Delete contacts in Google Contacts yourself.
  • It never changes a person you have only mailed, or a colleague's directory profile; save them as a contact first.
  • It connects one Google account per connection. For a second account, connect again under its own name and ask June for it by name.

If the Google Contacts row says the service is unavailable, contact June support. Repeating sign-in does not enable the service.

Google Contacts starts as personal only, like a mailbox: June uses it in your own chats, not in your organizations, until you turn Personal only off in its row's menu on the Integrations page.

If your Google Workspace administrator has restricted third-party apps, Google says so on its own page during sign-in and does not return you to June; ask the administrator to allow June.

Removing June from your Google account's third-party access also ends Google Calendar, Google Drive, Gmail and Google Search Console; to stop only Google Contacts, disconnect it on the Integrations page.
