Microsoft 365
Read Microsoft mail, calendars, files and people. Approve mail sends, inbox changes, meetings, Teams messages, file writes and saved-contact changes.
Connect a Microsoft 365 work or school account and June can read your Outlook mail and calendar, your Teams chats and your OneDrive and SharePoint files, and write or forward mail drafts. With your approval it sends mail, archives messages, marks them read or unread, or moves them to Trash. It can also tell you when you and the colleagues you name are all free, so you can propose a time, and with your approval it schedules the meeting, moves or cancels it, and answers invitations.
What is on my calendar on Thursday, and which meetings have no agenda?
Find the latest mail from the auditor and draft a reply that confirms the date.
When are Bob, Carol and I all free for an hour on Thursday afternoon?
Permissions and reconnecting
Microsoft asks for the permissions for mail, calendars you own or that are shared with you, Teams chats, files, contacts and people together. Your company may require an administrator to approve June before you can connect. This approval does not give you access to a calendar or file that has not been shared with you.
If June says your connection is missing a permission, reconnect Microsoft 365 from the Integrations page and accept the permissions. Updating June does not add permissions to an existing connection.
What June can do
| Part | Reads | Writes |
|---|---|---|
| Outlook mail | searches and reads messages, threads and file attachments; saves attachments as files in your chat | saves, edits and forwards drafts; sends mail, archives, marks read or unread and moves to or from Trash after approval |
| Calendar | lists and searches events, reads attendees and meeting links, finds when up to 20 people are all free, over up to 61 days | events you approve: new, changed or cancelled, and replies to invitations |
| Teams | lists and searches your chats and reads their messages | messages you approve |
| OneDrive and SharePoint | searches files and lists your recent ones; reads text files, CSV and spreadsheets | uploads June files, creates folders, renames items, moves or copies files and puts files in the recycle bin, with your approval |
| Contacts and people | searches saved contacts by name prefix, reads a saved contact, searches relevant people | creates and updates saved contacts you approve |
June can list the calendars Microsoft exposes to your account, including your secondary calendars and shared or delegated calendars added in Outlook. Name the calendar when asking June to read or change it; otherwise it uses your main calendar. Shared edits need the owner's edit permission and Microsoft's shared-calendar permission on your June connection. Reconnect after June's permissions change. Your organization may require administrator approval. If Microsoft refuses a calendar or does not expose it, June cannot use it. The approval card identifies the selected calendar and, for shared events, whose calendar it is.
To find a time, name the people and the window; June needs each person's email address to ask Outlook. It asks when each of them is busy, and suggests the first times you are all free, within working hours in your time zone. Outlook shows this for colleagues whose calendars share their free and busy times with you. For anyone else, such as someone outside your company, a group address or an address Microsoft 365 does not know, June says it could not see their calendar and never counts them as free. Checking free times needs no approval: it only reads.
Changing or cancelling an event, and answering an invitation, follows your approval settings. When June asks, its card in a chat on the web or in the app shows the event as it stands, each change before and after, and who Outlook tells: every guest of a changed or cancelled event, or the organizer of your reply. When you only add or remove guests, Outlook tells just those people, though it may tell every guest if a group is on the event. A note you add to a cancellation goes to every guest. For a repeating event, the card says whether one date or every date changes, and a repeat pattern in plain words, before and after. A new time is read in the event's own time zone, or in UTC when Outlook gives it none, and the card names the zone. If the event changes before you click, June changes nothing and asks again. In Slack June posts the same card in the thread; a cancellation offers no Always allow.
File writes and saved-contact changes ask for approval too. A file card names the drive, the item and its current name; a contact update shows each supplied field before and after. June checks the saved version again before writing. Creating a folder refuses an existing name. It checks the parent folder just before creating the child; Microsoft cannot make that version check and creation one indivisible step. Uploads, moves and copies also check the destination folder just before writing; the destination stays the same folder even if someone renames it at that moment.
June uploads files attached in your chat or kept from its workspace, up to 3 MiB (3,145,728 bytes) each. It shows the exact source file, byte count and fingerprint on the card. Uploads and copies create new files and refuse existing names. Copies carry only file contents, without the original's permissions or version history, and are limited to 3 MiB. Moves stay within one drive and keep the file's name. Delete puts a file in Microsoft's recycle bin; your drive's retention policy decides how long it can be recovered. Folder moves, copies and deletion are not available. File deletion offers no Always allow.
Contact updates change only the fields you supply. Replacing email addresses replaces the whole list. People suggestions are read-only: ask June to save a new contact to keep one. Each search returns up to 25 results; contact search matches the start of a name, and does not page through your whole address book. June can save or change names, email addresses, company, job title and department; it reads phone numbers but does not change them.
An older connection needs you to reconnect and accept the new permissions before file or contact changes and people search work. Your company's consent policy may require an administrator to approve them.
One connection is one Microsoft 365 account. To add another, open
Microsoft 365 from the Integrations page and connect again under a short
name of your own, such as work. A connection starts as Personal only,
so it stays out of your organizations until you turn that off
(personal or organization).
What June does not do
- It never invites someone you did not name.
- Sending mail always needs your approval. When sending an existing draft, June sends a copy and leaves the original draft saved. June sends the exact version you reviewed, including its files, and leaves the original draft saved. Do not send that draft again in Outlook unless you want another copy.
- A changed draft needs a new approval. HTML drafts must first be converted to plain text; June asks for the complete replacement text and formatting is lost. Incomplete messages and unsupported attachment types are refused.
- It never permanently deletes mail or changes Teams messages. Mail moves can change message ids, so June searches again after a move.
- It does not replace existing file contents, share files or permanently delete them. It does not delete contacts or change directory profiles.
- It does not read or post in Teams channels, only in chats.
- Calendar changes and Teams messages follow your approval settings. When approval is needed, June shows a card on the web, in the app or in Slack; elsewhere it says what it would have done (how). An event that invites nobody, on your main calendar, needs no card.
- It changes or cancels only events you organize. It can answer an event someone else organizes; asked to delete one, June only removes it from your calendar and no email is sent. To tell the organizer, decline it instead: declining also takes the event off your calendar, as Outlook does, and the card says so.
- If you answer without telling the organizer, June cannot add a note: Outlook sends a note only with the reply.
- When the organizer asked for no replies, June answers only without telling the organizer, and without a note: Outlook turns down any other reply.
- It changes a whole repeating event's time of day, never its dates: the series keeps the dates it falls on. To move a series to other days, change it in Outlook, or move one date at a time. Dates you moved one by one may go back to the series' time; the card says so.
- A new description on a Teams meeting goes above its join details, which stay. If June cannot find where the join details start, it changes nothing and asks you to edit the description in Outlook. It does not remove a Teams link.
- It repeats an event only in the plain patterns (every day, week, month or year, on the weekdays you name, a day of the month or a weekday of the month, until a date or for a number of times). A series Outlook repeats in another way shows on the card as one June cannot put in words.
- It reads text from PDF, Word (.docx) and PowerPoint (.pptx) files in pages, and can continue from where it stopped. Files must be at most 20 MB. Scanned pages and handwriting need you to open the original; June does not run OCR. Extracted text is kept for seven days after its last read, and removed when you disconnect. Each read checks access to the original.
- Personal Microsoft accounts (outlook.com, hotmail.com) are not supported yet.
Outlook drafts can include files June holds, up to 3 MB per file, 15 MB in total and ten files per draft. June refuses larger files before saving the draft.
Forwarding saves a new draft with the original message and its file attachments. It needs explicit recipients and never sends on its own. Item attachments, linked attachments, unsafe filenames and incomplete downloads are refused. Files remain limited to 3 MB each and 15 MB together.
Mailbox (Gmail or IMAP)
June searches and reads your mail and writes drafts, in Gmail or any IMAP mailbox. From Gmail it also sends mail and tidies your inbox, only after you approve it.
Google Drive
June finds and reads your Docs, Sheets, Slides, PDFs and their comments, saves what it writes to your Drive, edits your Docs, Sheets and Slides, and changes or shares your files when you approve.
