Decide by Friday
Name the decision you keep postponing. June writes a first draft of the answer now, and a reminder brings the thread back on the day you set.
The decision you keep carrying becomes a one-paragraph draft you can disagree with, and a date when the thread comes back to you.
What you need
- Nothing to connect. This works in any thread, on the web, in the app or in a direct message with June in Slack.
Set it up
I need to decide whether we drop the Starter plan, by Friday. Write me a bad first draft of the decision, with what we lose
Remind me Friday at 10:00 Berlin time to decide, and put the draft in the reminder
Move the Starter plan reminder to Tuesday at 10:00 Berlin time
The Decide by Friday guide tells the longer story behind this recipe.
Check the result
Read the draft as if you had to explain the decision to someone affected by it. Does it name what you know, what you are assuming, and what you would give up? Correct the facts and ask June to separate unanswered questions from reasons to choose an option.
You are done when you have a draft you can argue with and a confirmed reminder time. You still make the decision. Keep the draft short enough to fit in the reminder; it brings back saved words and does not reassess the options. If you settle it early, ask June to remove the reminder so it does not come back after the work is done.
What June does not do
- It does not decide for you, and it never marks a decision as made.
- It does not notice that you decided sooner. The reminder comes at its time; ask June to remove it.
- A reminder does not announce the decision to anyone else. If you need to share it, ask for a separate message draft and review the audience.
