Troubleshooting

What to do when June does not reply, cannot reach a tool, runs out of plan usage, or will not take a file.

Find the symptom below and try its recovery steps. If June reports a failed change, check whether it already happened in the connected service before asking June to repeat it.

June did not reply

In an organization's chat, June answers only messages that tag it: write @june in the message. Messages without the tag are for the other members. If you forgot the tag, choose Ask @June directly on the notice above the composer, while no one else has written since; send another message and the notice offers that one instead (Working together).

In a Slack channel, June answers only when you mention it, even in a thread it already answered. In a direct message it always answers.

Anywhere else, the reply may have failed. The message then shows what went wrong and a button to try again; use it once.

While June is still replying, a message you send does not start a new reply: the send button reads Steer, and June reads your message at its next step and adjusts the reply. To end the reply instead, choose Stop reply, or Stop and send to have June answer your message as a new one (stop and steer).

June says it can't access Gmail (or Drive, GitHub…)

  • The connection lapsed. On the Integrations page its row reads Re-auth required. Choose Re-auth and sign in again. Gmail connections lapse after 7 days for now; connect again under the same name.
  • The connection is missing a permission. If you unticked a permission when you connected, June can do only part of the job (Google Drive, for example, reads but cannot save). Connect again and allow everything the provider asks for.
  • You are in an organization's chat. A connection marked Personal only stays out of your organizations: untick it in the row's menu (for an IMAP mailbox, on the Mailbox page), or connect a work account on the organization's page. Some tools never work there (which).
  • June uses a different account than you meant. With several accounts of one tool connected, name the one you mean in your message: its connection name, its email address, or for GitHub its login. If the name matches none of them, June tells you which ones you have instead of saying the tool is not connected.

June says "You've reached your ChatGPT plan's usage limit"

If you use your ChatGPT or Claude plan, June stops when the plan's usage window is used up. It replies "You've reached your ChatGPT plan's usage limit, so I can't run this right now." and says when the plan resets; it names ChatGPT even when it was your Claude plan that ran out. The usage bars in the composer show what is left in the current window and the week. Wait for the reset, or switch to another model or plan in the model picker.

If June asks you to reconnect ChatGPT or Claude, open Settings and connect the plan again; your draft stays in the composer. Settings marks such a plan Needs reconnecting: the provider stopped accepting the saved sign-in, so June keeps asking until you connect it again rather than trying the old one.

In an organization that pays through a funding source, June says instead that the source "is out of usage right now"; an admin of the organization fixes it on the organization's page.

My file won't attach

A message takes up to 5 files of up to 20 MB each. A file over the limit is not added, and the composer says "Some files exceed the maximum size and were not added." A very long paste turns into a text attachment, which counts as one of the five (attach files).

If a file failed to upload, retry or remove it before you send; the message waits until every attachment is up.

For a Slack attachment that June cannot read, ask the workspace admin to check that June’s Slack app has the files:read permission and that June can access the channel. Reconnecting a Google Drive account will not fix a private Slack download. See Slack setup.

A schedule ran but did not do the work

Open the schedule’s Open history and read the latest result. A work run uses its saved instruction, not the conversation where you discussed it. Check that the instruction names the source and the result you want, and that the needed toolsets are enabled. See what a run can use.

If a connection is unavailable, reconnect the account before trying Run now. If the run needs a change that requires confirmation, ask June to handle that change in a chat instead. Pause the schedule while investigating if more runs would be unhelpful; a failure does not pause it for you.

A change is waiting, blocked, or happened without a card

A waiting card needs the person whose account the change uses. In a shared chat, another member cannot approve for them. Read the card before deciding; approving one change does not approve a different recipient, account or request.

If no card appeared, review the chat’s permissions and your permanent rules in Approvals. Turning off chat-wide approval does not remove individual permissions already granted there. An organization can require approval or block a change on its own connections. A blocked change cannot be approved from a card.

A notification did not arrive

Check that notifications are allowed for June in your browser or phone settings. Ordinary replies notify you only when you asked to be notified; reminders, schedules, unread mentions and approval requests have their own rules. Mentions and approval requests notify your phone, not your browser. See Notifications.

A missing notification does not mean the work did not run. Open the thread or schedule history to check its result before asking June to repeat it.

Voice does not start

Allow microphone access for June in your browser’s site settings or your phone’s app settings, then try again. You can keep working by typing. Voice explains calls and dictation.
